Fort Condor is a settlement built around a mako reactor occupied by a giant condor. Residents resist repeated Shinra attempts to seize the reactor and protect the bird's nest. The location offers a recurring strategy minigame in which units are purchased and placed to defend the mountain. Optional battles become available at multiple points in the story, with rewards that can be missed if ignored. The final Huge Materia mission gives the fort greater narrative importance and can award the Phoenix summon.
