Obel Lake
Overview
Obel Lake is a horseshoe-shaped body of water north of Timber that begins a large optional riddle quest. Interacting with the shadow on the lake leads to clues scattered across the world map, including unusual land formations, hidden messages, and several locations that are otherwise easy to ignore. The quest rewards careful observation and familiarity with world geography rather than combat strength. Some clues can be investigated as soon as Balamb Garden becomes mobile, while others are far easier to reach with the Ragnarok. The lake itself is peaceful and contains no dungeon interior, but it serves as the central point for one of the game's most geographically extensive sidequests.
