Midgar Expressway
Overview
The Midgar Expressway is the final escape route from Shinra headquarters. The sequence begins with vehicle combat as Cloud rides the Hardy-Daytona and protects the party's truck from pursuing soldiers and machines. It culminates in the Motor Ball battle at the city's edge. The expressway is highly scripted and offers no conventional exploration, but it marks the transition from Midgar's enclosed urban chapter to the open world map. Once completed, the area cannot be revisited.
