Enemies T-Z

Tiamat (Crystal World)

A Crystal World echo of the huge dragon Guardian, reduced from set-piece boss to regular encounter. Its return adds to the area's dreamlike replay of Memoria's strongest foes.

Strategy
The Crystal World Tiamat is a much less protected echo of the Memoria Guardian. Put it to Sleep or use Stop/Petrify and the encounter can end before its dragon mechanics become relevant. Ice is the weakness. If you fight normally, avoid unnecessary Float because the original Tiamat script interacts badly with floating characters; the status shortcut is cleaner. Petrify is particularly useful in low-level play because it still awards AP without EXP.

Strategy
Tonberry is almost completely immune to status effects and has unusually high defense, so control magic is not the answer. The real mechanic is its slow advance: once it reaches a target, Knife deals 9,999 damage and the Tonberry disappears. Everyone's Grudge scales with the number of Tonberries you have already killed, so repeated farming actually makes later encounters more dangerous. Use defense-ignoring or fixed-damage skills such as Dragon's Crest, Thievery, Shock, Frog Drop, or a prepared Limit Glove to remove them before they finish approaching. Auto-Life is good insurance if you are farming groups, but do not linger laughing at their slow movement, the gimmick is designed to punish exactly that.

Torama

A sleek coeurl-like beast with a feline body, long whisker-like tendrils, and the poised stillness of a dangerous cat. Its elegant silhouette contrasts with its status-heavy magic.

Strategy
Torama's Blaster can inflict a severe disabling effect while Poison adds attrition, so Antibody is useful but does not solve the whole encounter. Water is the elemental weakness and gives you a fast way to remove Torama before multiple Blasters land. If a character is disabled, prioritize restoring that character before letting a second Torama act; the danger comes from losing actions, not from the raw Poison tick.

As an Aerial target, Bird Killer also applies if already equipped. In mixed formations, a status such as Sleep can safely postpone the Sparrow while you deal with an enemy carrying a more dangerous status kit.

Strategy
Troll counters damage, so a string of low-value hits gives it far more turns than necessary. Use fewer high-impact actions, or disable it first with Sleep, Stop, Petrify, or another status it does not resist. Solution inflicts Berserk; Gysahl Greens cure it if a healer or mage is affected. Blizzara is the other meaningful damage source. If Quina needs Vanish, bring Troll below 25% HP and Eat it, but do the setup while the Troll is disabled so Counter does not turn the learning attempt into a recovery loop.

Strategy
Type A is the weakest mass-produced Black Mage record, so its main tactical role is adding another spellcasting turn to a formation. Do not let several dolls remain active if the group also contains a stronger Type B or Type C; remove the casters in order of threat. These manufactured mages are susceptible to common disabling statuses, making Silence, Sleep, or Stop a good way to reduce incoming magic while conserving healing.

Type B

A more capable Black Mage doll whose familiar hat, glowing eyes, and faceless shadow are presented as the standardized look of a manufactured soldier.

Strategy
Type B is a stronger Black Mage doll than Type A and should take priority when mixed variants appear together. Silence can strip away much of a mage-type enemy's value if it lands, while Sleep or Stop removes the ATB turn entirely. There is no special elemental weakness to exploit, so status control and target priority matter more than element selection.

Type C

The strongest of the mass-produced Black Mage types, still wearing the iconic pointed hat and hidden face that immediately recalls Vivi.

Strategy
Type C is the strongest of the mass-produced Black Mage records. Treat it as the priority caster in a mixed formation and do not leave it active while spending turns on the weaker Type A/B dolls. Silence, Sleep, and Stop are the most useful forms of control when available. With no elemental weakness to lean on, denying spell turns is the clearest way to reduce the formation's damage.

The green Vepal is weak to Fire and Wind. Its Aerial typing makes Bird Killer useful, but elemental damage is usually the faster answer when several appear together. This color variant has a different elemental profile from the red Vepal, so do not assume the same spell choice works on both; identify the color first and switch elements accordingly.

Wind remains a safe shared weakness between the variants, making it the simplest choice in a mixed formation. Status effects can also disable one while you remove the other.

Strategy
Veteran carries several instant-KO-style threats, Doom, Roulette, and Blaster, so a long fight gives it too many chances to remove party members regardless of HP. Water, Wind, and Holy are all weaknesses, giving plenty of ways to shorten the encounter. Roulette can hit either side, so keep revival ready rather than assuming the random target will be favorable. Devil Killer/Bird Killer can help, but elemental burst and turn denial are more important than raw defense.

Weimar is a simple event enemy with little tactical depth. Whale Zombie is Undead, so Magic Tag is the immediate kill and Phoenix Down reduces its enormous HP total to only a few points. Antibody protects against Venom, and Magic Tags cure Zombie on party members as well as killing the enemy. Quina can Eat it for LV5 Death, which is worth obtaining before farming Grand Dragons.

Strategy
Worm Hydra combines Venom Breath with Cold Breath, so Antibody and Body Temp cover the two most dangerous status outcomes. Without those protections, Venom can end the battle despite remaining HP and Freeze can turn the next damaging hit into an instant KO. Ice is the elemental weakness. If Quina still needs Bad Breath, reduce the Hydra below 25% and Eat it only after its companion enemies are gone, because the status-heavy setup is risky in a full formation.

Strategy
The blue Wraith is weak to Fire, Wind, and Holy. Its color is a useful reminder that Fire is the variant-specific weakness, while Holy remains a strong general option against its spectral nature. Use the matching element instead of letting the encounter drag into status pressure. If several Wraiths of different colors appear, Wind/Holy are the safer shared choices.

Wraith (Red)

The red form of the hovering Wraith. Its warmer coloration accompanies a different elemental alignment while preserving the same thin, spectral design.

Strategy
The red Wraith is weak to Ice, Wind, and Holy. Ice is the color-specific answer, while Wind/Holy remain useful if mixed with the blue form. Do not carry the blue variant's Fire plan into this fight; the point of the color swap is the changed elemental relationship. Status control is also effective if you need to isolate one Wraith while dealing with another.

Strategy
Wyerd can alter the flow of an early Ice Cavern battle with its unusual behavior, but Fire remains the clean elemental answer. Keep the party healthy enough that a sudden Slap/Blizzard sequence cannot produce an unexpected KO. Because it is a Beast, Beast Killer applies if learned later, though at the point of the first encounter the practical advantage is simply exploiting Fire and not allowing several Wyerd turns in a row.

Strategy
Hostile Yans are among the strongest random encounters in the game and often appear in groups. Their damage is high enough that a failed opening can become a wipe before a conventional setup is finished, so save before farming Vile Island and treat each encounter as a boss-sized risk. Shadow is their weakness; Doomsday becomes an excellent group option if your own party absorbs or nullifies Shadow, allowing one cast to pressure every Yan while protecting your side. Fixed-damage skills such as Dragon's Crest, Frog Drop, Thievery, and Shock are reliable because they do not care about Yan's defenses. If Quina wants Auto-Life, Eat one below 25% HP, but isolate or disable the remaining Yans first so the Eat setup does not leave the party exposed.

Strategy
The hostile Yeti is weak to Wind and Shadow. Its low HP makes the encounter straightforward, but do not confuse it with the Friendly Monster version, the normal battle theme and aggressive behavior mean this one should be fought normally. If Quina still needs Pumpkin Head, lower the hostile Yeti below 25% and Eat it; the friendly version is an item exchange and cannot serve as the learning target.

Strategy
The wild Zaghnol is much less constrained than the Festival version, but it still hits hard enough to punish a weakened party around Pinnacle Rocks. Water is its weakness, and Beast Killer is useful if already equipped. If several enemies are present, take Zaghnol out before spending turns on weaker targets; its higher damage output is the part of the formation most likely to force emergency healing.

Strategy
Zemzelett's Rainbow Wind can layer status trouble over its Aero/Psychokinesis damage, so status protection is more valuable than simply stacking HP. Wind is also the enemy's weakness despite its own Aero use. As an Aerial target, Bird Killer applies. Quina can learn White Wind by Eating Zemzelett below 25%, making it a useful backup source if Garuda or Griffin was missed.

Strategy
Zenero is another low-stat event opponent whose Clamp Pinch and Pyro are not designed as a long-form boss challenge. Preserve consumables and avoid elaborate setup; a disabling status can remove its turn if the scripted group contains several targets. There is no elemental weakness or special phase to manage, so the main objective is simply to clear the event without spending resources needed for the real encounters around it.

Strategy
Zombie is vulnerable to the standard Undead shortcuts even though the type field in this table is not populated: a Magic Tag can remove it outright and Phoenix Down reduces it to only a few HP. Fire and Holy are also weaknesses. Roulette is the unpredictable threat because it can instantly KO any target, including the Zombie. If you are fighting several, use the Undead item exploit instead of giving Roulette repeated chances to select a party member.

Strategy
Zuu is weak to Ice, Water, and Wind, giving several ways to remove it before Aera and Fira stack damage. If the party is using Bird Killer in Cleyra, the Aerial-type support also applies. Quina can learn White Wind by Eating Zuu below 25% HP, and this is one of the earliest opportunities to obtain that very useful group-healing Blue Magic. Set up the Eat once the rest of the formation is gone.
