Strategy
Gargoyle is both Aerial and Stone, which gives you two very different solutions. The efficient one is simply to use a Soft for an instant KO; there is no reason to fight through its HP unless you are intentionally avoiding item shortcuts. If it appears with Agares, remember that Agares can use Rise to awaken the petrified Gargoyle, so removing Agares first prevents the formation from resetting the threat. Jelly also blocks the Gargoyle's own Petrify effects, and Wind is the elemental weakness if you choose a normal kill.

Strategy
Garuda's Maelstrom can reduce a character to single-digit HP, so do not wait for the next enemy turn before recovering that target. Locomotion blocks Stop, which otherwise gives Garuda an easy chance to capitalize on the low-HP victim. Wind and Shadow are both weaknesses. If Quina needs White Wind, isolate Garuda and Eat it below 25% HP; doing the setup after the other enemies are gone prevents Maelstrom from turning the learning attempt into a rescue.

Strategy
Ghost is Undead, so a Magic Tag instantly removes it and a Phoenix Down leaves it at only a few HP. That shortcut is often cleaner than letting Roulette decide a random KO target. If conserving items, healing magic also damages it, while Wind and Shadow are elemental weaknesses. Be ready to revive promptly if Roulette happens to select a party member rather than the Ghost itself.

Strategy
Gigan Octopus can cast Mighty Guard on itself, giving it both Protect and Shell; Dispel removes the buff and is usually worth the turn if the fight is going to continue. Ink can cause Darkness, while its Water/Ice-flavored offense is easier to handle with elemental resistance. Thunder and Wind are its weaknesses. This is also an Eat source for Mighty Guard, so if Quina still lacks that Blue Magic, lower the Octopus below 25% only after any companion enemies have been cleared.

Strategy
The higher-level Gigan Toad is weak to Thunder, and its Water/Blizzara spell pair makes elemental resistance useful in the marsh. Glowing Eyes is the nuisance move; status control keeps the Toad from cycling spells while you work on other targets. Quina can learn Frog Drop by Eating it below 25% HP. Because Frog Drop scales with Quina's level and total frogs caught, learning it early can turn the frog-catching side activity into one of Quina's strongest fixed-damage options later.

Gigan Toad (Qu's Marsh - Lv. 6)

Strategy
This lower-level Gigan Toad uses the same basic toolkit as the stronger marsh record. Thunder remains the weakness, and keeping Water/Ice resistance on the party makes its spell turns much less important. It is also a valid source of Frog Drop for Quina; isolate the Toad, lower it under 25%, and Eat it rather than finishing normally if the skill is missing. There is no need to hunt the higher-level variant specifically for the Blue Magic.

Do not give Gimme Cat the Diamond it asks for. This is a trap rather than part of the Friendly Monsters quest: the Diamond is consumed and you receive nothing useful in return. Once attacked, Gimme Cat fights normally and can use Meow! I'm Mad!, whose damage varies wildly enough to punish a weakened party. It absorbs every element, so rely on non-elemental skills and fixed-damage abilities. The upside is its very high Gil reward, and Quina can Eat it below 25% HP to learn Auto-Life.

Gnoll can make itself more troublesome with Might and Vanish. Dispel removes both buffs at once, or simply use magic while Vanish is active rather than wasting attacks that are likely to miss. Blizzara is its main spell, so Ice resistance helps in formations with several Gnolls. The enemy is broadly vulnerable to status effects; Sleep or Stop is an efficient way to prevent it from repeatedly refreshing its buffs.

Goblin is weak to Fire and has a very small HP pool, so the main tactical value is as a safe place to learn how Goblin Punch behaves rather than as a threat. Goblin Punch becomes much stronger when Quina and the target share the same level, a niche interaction worth remembering even though the enemy itself is easy.

Goblin Mage can use Vanish to make weapon-based hits miss, so either Dispel the status or switch to magic and abilities that are unaffected by Vanish. Thundara is its main burst spell; Thunder resistance can turn those turns into minor damage. If Quina needs Goblin Punch, this is another Eat source below 25% HP. If you fight it normally, Antibody protects against Venom/Poison and Thunder resistance helps against Thundaga; Ice is its elemental weakness. Do not underestimate Venom Breath in groups or at low levels, because losing the entire party to Venom can trigger a Game Over even with HP remaining.

Grenade combines strong Fire damage with Cannon, which cuts a target's current HP sharply. Body Temp is worthwhile if this enemy's Mustard Bomb variant is part of the encounter set you are farming; preventing Heat removes the possibility of an action-triggered KO.

Strategy
Grimlock alternates between a red physical head and a blue magical head. Pay attention to the active color instead of treating every turn the same: the blue head brings Sleep, Slow, Stop, and Silence, while the red head is the safer window for characters vulnerable to status magic. Insomniac and Locomotion are particularly valuable if you intend to let the blue phase continue. Fire, Ice, and Thunder are all weaknesses, so elemental offense is flexible. If Quina needs Night, lower Grimlock below 25% and Eat it after the dangerous status cycle is under control.

Hecteyes

A pulsing mass dominated by clusters of staring eyes, with just enough body around them to keep the creature from being a floating pile of vision organs.

Strategy
Hecteyes is Undead, so Magic Tag is the fastest answer and Phoenix Down reduces it to single-digit HP. If you avoid the shortcut, Fire and Holy are both strong. Roulette is the unpredictable part of the encounter because it can instantly KO either side, including Hecteyes itself; do not let a random party KO snowball while trying to save items. Hypnotize adds another control effect, so Insomniac is useful if you plan to fight several rather than deleting them with the Undead item exploit.

Strategy
Hedgehog Pie's Pumpkin Head becomes stronger as the caster loses HP, so the enemy can become more dangerous near death instead of less. Avoid leaving several injured Hedgehog Pies alive at once, where multiple low-HP Pumpkin Heads can land back-to-back. There is no elemental weakness to exploit, but Sleep, Stop, and Petrify are good ways to control a group. Quina can learn Pumpkin Head from this enemy by Eating it below 25% HP.

Strategy
Hornet is vulnerable to both Thunder and Wind, making area magic an efficient way to clear several before Stinger and Buzz start stacking. Bird Killer and Bug Killer both apply, but Killer abilities do not stack with one another, so choose one rather than spending stones on both. If the formation contains a Lamia or another higher-priority status user, a quick Sleep/Stop on the Hornet can safely postpone it while you deal with the real threat.

Strategy
Helm Divide can reduce a character to 1 HP, making the follow-up turn far more dangerous than the attack's raw damage suggests. Queue a heal as soon as it lands. Iron Man can also build itself up with Protect, Might, and Vanish; Dispel strips those advantages in one action and prevents the fight from becoming a defensive grind. Thunder is its weakness, and Devil Killer or Man Eater applies depending on which support ability you already have available.

Strategy
Ironite's Thundara and Flame give it mixed elemental coverage, so the easier route is to exploit its own Ice/Wind weaknesses rather than trying to wall every element it casts. Its Aerial/Dragon typing also makes Bird Killer or Dragon Killer useful. Quina can learn Angel's Snack by Eating an Ironite below 25% HP. If you want the skill, clear the rest of the formation first and use the threshold setup here rather than in a harder late-game encounter.

Strategy
Jabberwock's Earthquake is completely avoided by Float, removing its broadest damage option. Light/Everyone Light can also change character weight, but the bigger immediate concern is recovering before another Earthquake or Aera lands. Thunder and Shadow are weaknesses. Jabberwock is an Eat source for Limit Glove; establish Float, isolate it, then bring it below 25% HP if Quina still needs the skill.
