Enemies A-B

Abadon

A hulking winged insect with a blade-like silhouette and violent, mechanical movements. Its gusts and debilitating attacks give it the character of a living weapon.

Strategy
High Wind is the move that can turn this encounter quickly, and Virus Fly is particularly annoying because Virus prevents an affected character from receiving normal battle rewards. Keep Vaccines ready and clear Virus before the Abadon dies if EXP/AP matters. Wind is its weakness, while Earth does nothing because the creature is airborne. Thundaga can punish a party with weak Thunder defense, so avoid entering the fight already injured. If Quina still needs Twister, lower this random-encounter version below 25% HP and Eat it after the dangerous status pressure has been handled.

Abomination

A malformed one-eyed creature with dangling growths and crooked teeth. Its awkward appearance is almost comical until it starts lashing out at the party.

Strategy
Abomination's Sleep is more disruptive than its damage, especially when several enemies are present. Insomniac removes that problem completely; otherwise wake the healer first and do not waste turns curing minor damage while multiple characters are asleep. Fira is its only real burst option, while Silent Slap is comparatively manageable. Quina can learn Night here, so this is a useful enemy to leave below 25% HP and Eat once the rest of the formation is under control.

Adamantoise

A slow, heavily armored creature built around a massive shell. Its stubborn defense is backed by surprisingly dangerous magic and earth-shaking attacks.

Strategy
Float shuts off Earth Shake, which removes the Adamantoise's most dangerous group attack and leaves a much simpler fight. Thunder is the elemental weakness, so this is a good target for Thundara or other boosted Thunder skills. Be careful when its HP is extremely low: Limit Glove only works at exactly 1 HP, but if that rare condition occurs the attack deals 9,999 damage. Quina can Eat Adamantoise for Earth Shake, making it worth setting up the Eat rather than taking the fastest kill if the Blue Magic is still missing.

Strategy
Agares has a broad spell list and becomes more troublesome when it successfully uses Rise to animate the accompanying Gargoyle. Remove Agares before spending time on the Gargoyle, or use a Soft on the Stone-type Gargoyle so Rise cannot turn the formation into a drawn-out two-target fight. Body Temp prevents Freeze, Antibody limits Bio's Poison pressure, and Reflect can be useful against the elemental spells if you are not relying on direct spellcasting yourself. Osmose can drain a mage's MP, so resolve the fight before repeated spell theft becomes an inventory problem.

Strategy
This is the solo Treno Weapon Shop challenge, and Zidane can trivialize it with a status exploit. Equip Sargatanas and use Soul Blade: the weapon's Petrify status is applied with Soul Blade's perfect status accuracy if the target is not immune, ending the fight immediately. If you want to fight it normally, the Tent trick can inflict Darkness/Silence/Poison, and Slow further reduces its turns. Wind is its elemental weakness. LV4 Holy only threatens characters whose levels are divisible by 4, so level alignment can remove that spell from practical concern.

Strategy
Anemone mixes Water and Blizzara with Mucus, so Thunder is the obvious offensive advantage while Water resistance reduces its best elemental option. The fight is more useful than dangerous if Quina still needs Bad Breath: bring the Anemone below 25% HP and Eat it once other enemies are gone. If several Anemones appear, disable one with Sleep or Stop rather than allowing multiple spellcasters to cycle turns at the same time.

Strategy
The regular Antlion still carries the same disruptive tools as the Cleyra boss. Sandstorm can leave the party vulnerable to a follow-up, while Trouble Mucus makes shared damage dangerous; keep Annoyntments ready and recover as a group after Sandstorm. Ice is the weakness and Water is absorbed. Unlike the boss record, this version is an Eat source for Mighty Guard, so lower it below 25% HP and let Quina consume it if that Blue Magic is still missing.

Strategy
Armstrong is mainly dangerous because several of its moves manipulate HP rather than dealing predictable damage. Matra Magic can reduce a target to 1 HP and Cannon cuts current HP sharply, so queue recovery immediately when either lands instead of treating the missing HP as ordinary chip damage. Berserk is cured with Gysahl Greens if it lands on a character whose commands you need. With no elemental weakness, status control such as Sleep or Stop is a better shortcut than forcing an element.

Strategy
Ash can stack several endgame status threats in a short span. Locomotion prevents Stop, and instant-death protection is valuable because Death and Doom can otherwise remove a character before its raw damage becomes relevant. Reflect means careless spellcasting can be sent back at the party, so Dispel it or switch to non-reflectable abilities when the barrier is active. Wind is the elemental weakness. Because Ash is both Aerial and Demon, Bird Killer or Devil Killer can add useful damage if those support abilities are already part of the build.

Axe Beak is most useful as an early source of Limit Glove. If Quina needs it, bring the bird below 25% HP and Eat it; the low HP total makes that setup easy to control. Its normal offense is modest, but Thundara can punish characters wearing Thunder-weak equipment. Sleep or Stop can keep it harmless while you prepare the Eat, and Beast Killer applies if you want to remove it quickly instead.

Strategy
Thunder is especially effective against Axolotl, and Water-resistant equipment blunts both Water and Aqua Breath. Aqua Breath works from a percentage-based formula, so its damage remains relevant even when the party is overleveled for the area. If Quina has not learned Aqua Breath, isolate the Axolotl, reduce it below 25% HP, and Eat it before finishing the encounter. There is little reason to let several of them remain active while setting that up.

Bandersnatch is a fast, heavy-hitting Beast rather than a complicated enemy. Thundara is the one spell to prepare around, so Thunder resistance can matter more than stacking general defense if you are encountering several. Its lack of a major status gimmick makes disabling it with Sleep or Stop efficient when it appears alongside more troublesome enemies. Beast Killer is useful here, but the bigger tactical gain is simply preventing multiple Bandersnatches from taking consecutive turns.

Basilisk's Gradual Petrify is the reason to carry Softs or equip Jelly; allowing the countdown to finish can remove a character from the battle at a bad time. Slow adds more turn pressure but is much easier to tolerate. Ice is the elemental weakness. If Quina still needs Pumpkin Head, the Basilisk is an accessible Eat source once its HP is below 25%, and Jelly makes that setup considerably safer.

The Memoria Behemoth is dangerous less for its basic moves than for Meteor Counter, which can punish every unnecessary attack with a potentially huge response. Silence shuts that counter down, so landing Silence before committing to damage is a major safety improvement. Ice is the elemental weakness, and Beast Killer is useful if the party already has the stones to spare. If Quina still needs Angel's Snack, lower the Behemoth below 25% HP and Eat it only after the counter threat has been controlled.

The Treno Weapon Shop Behemoth is another encounter Zidane can bypass with Sargatanas plus Soul Blade; Petrify lands immediately if the status is not resisted. For a conventional win, Silence is particularly valuable because it removes Meteor Counter from the equation, after which the fight becomes much more predictable. Ice is its weakness. Strategy
Blazer Beetle is dangerous mainly when its Fire damage is allowed to stack with Charge from multiple enemies. Fire resistance helps more than broad defensive setup, and Bug Killer is a useful support option if you are spending time in its encounter region. It is also an Eat source for Limit Glove. Disable the Beetle or leave it as the last target before bringing it below 25%, because trying to set up Eat while several enemies are still charging is needlessly risky.

Strategy
Bomb becomes more dangerous the longer it is allowed to Grow. The increase is not cosmetic: a larger Bomb is setting up a more punishing Blowup, so do not spread damage across a group and leave several of them alive. Ice, Water, and Wind all work well, giving almost any party an elemental answer. If you are deliberately learning Mustard Bomb from a different Bomb-type enemy, do that in a safer encounter; this version is better removed before it reaches its later growth stages.
